The C.U.P. Story

The Community Unity Partnership was inspired by observing real needs of people e see everyday. We were moved to assist in meeting those needs.

The C. U.P. of Empowerment Coalition is a non-profit organization devoted to and for the Community's needs.  The C. U. P. was established after observing and speaking to the community members participating in our Community Fair in 2018.  This annual event was free to all and provided food, clothing, and other donated items. However, the need increased from an annual event to quarterly Community Events. 

Our organization has held several events such as Back-to-School Backpacks Giveaways,” Helping Hands” Backpack Giveaways to the Homeless and less fortunate Community members, and a “Togetherness with Thanksgiving” Event which provided clothing and Thanksgiving Dinner to any and everyone.  What a wonderful fellowship for all of us! 

The C.U.P. focus and impact is to assist individuals to “Rise Up Like Steam” through support with hunger and educational resources. We are a team of passionate members driven by purpose and deeply dedicated to our mission. We are committed to provide and produce maintainable results to our community members and their families. We are working to build a stronger community and create a strong bond with our community members. We are resilient promoters for the well-being of every member of our community with food and educational resources. When we join forces with others, we all go further than we ever could alone.  

According to the latest census data, in the 90062 zip code here in Los Angeles, there were approximately 34,400 residents. More than one-third of the households had children but nearly one-half of all the residents reported no earnings. That's a scary statistic. Less than half of these same residents graduated from high school or got a diploma. The C.U.P. is here to make a difference and fill in some of these huge gaps.
